19 Days to Graduation.

Hola all~

Because my last post was such a debbie downer, this will be a happy one! So much has happened since then and I am eager to share. I'll try not to bore you, (my nonexistent readers...jk) too much.

Firstly, I am graduating in 19 days. Whaaaaaat. NINETEEN DAYS. Where has time gone? This semester has been great though. I've been taking some of the best classes, and although I have been so so packed with deadlines, projects, applications and well, just life, it has been really great.

I've been trying to get out as much as possible and soak up all of Chicago before I must leave. Even made a to-do list of things to do. By the way, thank you Chicago weather for finally becoming bearable. It's strange to see the streets full of people again. Nice, but strange. We did it, guys. We survived Chiberia.

Anyways, I also had my BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) show a month ago! I participated in a group show with three of my bestest friends, Julie, Erica and Jessica at SAIC called "Home Sweet Home." We were all inspired by our similar multi-cultural upbringings that essentially brought us together four lovely years ago~

After the BFA show, I participated in SAIC's Spring Art Sale. It was my first experience selling my stuff. Let's just say I need work on holding my ground when it comes to pricing. On one hand I would think "oh, if I don't get rid of it now, i'll have to ship it back to Hong Kong." Then...on the other, I was like "nawhh, don't undersell your work! Think of how much time and effort you put into it." It was a dilemma and I probably annoyed the heck out of my tablemate asking her about my prices every 5 minutes. Sorry!

Needless to say, I am an easy person to get a good deal out of D:

Alrighty, I must get back to finishing up my last real week of college. Essays will not write themselves!

Here are some photos from the BFA Show opening night.

So much cuteness.

The day I thought it was Thursday.

Today (35 minutes ago, today), I thought it was Thursday. It was actually Wednesday.

I thought I would share because for some reason, it is quite unsettling to think that for the whole day I thought it was a completely different day. Like I just wasted a day of life by living it passively, and in reality, not really living. Livin' life like a zombie. Not good!

I think I was/still kind of am so bothered by this because I feel lost.

I feel like I am in a perpetual state of trying to find myself and figure life out. But then again, who isn't? I think it is also partly due to the work i've been making/not making. I'm just not excited by any of it. Well, it's more of a "kinnnnd of excited" but not EXCITED EXCITED. Yaknowwhati'msaying?

I'll stop being a Silly Susan now. At the end of the day, I just need to keep pushing through. Work hard, PRODUCE produce produce, be present and stop living like a zombie. #socheeeesey.

Fun info of the day!

I'm using this gem of a phone from my middle and high school days because my phone broke. After so many years, it is still functional. I miss long lasting technology. Also, flip phones are just awesome. End of story.

Now do yourself a favor and listen to some Stones...

Tablet Play

Tablet tablet tablet! I finally got a tablet. The Wacom Intuos 4 to be more specific. However, due to the fact that my Macbook is a little very fracked up, it has been extremely frustrating running photoshop and the tablet. Right now, I am holed up in the computer lab on the fashion floor and I'm pretty sure this is my new haven. I am currently staring at 27 inches of luxury~...and then I am going home to my 13 inches of a Lag-book.

Anyways, I just spent my Friday afternoon playing with Photoshop and I thought I would share what I came up with!

I'm pretty satisfied with it, what do you guys think?

Happy weekend everyone :3

Drawings of Fashun

Last official day at work!

I'm excited to have some free time before I go back to Hong Kong but, also a wee bit sad to leave. Working at Zen Wu Design has definitely helped me narrow down my choices of courses at school. Still going to stick with illustration but, I have decided to switch my ceramics class for a Visual Com. class. Hopefully it won't be as boring as Intro to Viscom?

On another note, I guess I'll have to save Multilevel Fashion Illustration for next semester :/ I still have my mound of Science and Social Studies credits to finish and squeeze into my schedule. Poo.

Here are some of my favorite pieces from Fashion Illustration last semester. Just marker and pen, 30-45 minutes with a live model. I actually prefer the under drawings (on the right) that are like a preliminary sketch I put under the final to get the "feel" of the piece first.

I shall be off now!...to watch some more Olympics and slack off on my last day hehe

Oh and I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I finally updated my portfolio site. It is still kind of messy and well...filled with random stuff but check it out anyways :)

Graphic 80's

Why don't people use rainbows and unicorns in graphic design anymore?! Graphic design (in my opinion) seemed so much more vibrant and exciting back in the 80's. I mean, how awesome are unicorns, rainbows and everything random including floating body parts.

Anyways, I went on this freak "80'S GRAPHICS!!!" binge today because I was avoiding my project at work. I am/was so stumped! I'm basically designing a red packet for Chinese New Year based on the next animal of the zodiac calendar, the snake.

I hate snakes. Just looking at pictures creeps me out, which is why I am not enjoying being forced to look at pictures so I can sketch out my design. :-(

Good news though, I have decided to do an art deco pattern snake, very not realistic so no more pictures of snakes for me. Yay!

Hurr ah sum "80'S GRAPHICSS!!!!!" which are totally awesome.

Enjoy the weekend

Shanghai Sharing

Just some pictures I took this summer of the most wonderful city in the world, Shanghai. Seriously, I'm in love...and I can't wait to be reunited with it in 3 months!

Enjoy :)
Camera: Minolta XG-1

Randoms around Shanghai:

A new creative space called ShangArt Taopu @ M50 West (pretty far outside the city, but still a place to visit!)

We saw a couple of the mini exhibitions in the warehouse next door which housed mostly large scale works, installations and sculptures.

Resurrection!

Hello all!

It has definitely been a while since I've posted. I apologize to the very very few people that read my blog, but thanks for reading anyways :)...or skimming.

So, lets see, hell month is FINALLY over. Thank god! AND there is only 4 weeks left of school, yesyesyes. The opening for Artbash was yesterday and I am so glad I was able to do an installation...despite its horrible location at the end of the hallway. I didn't get to take pictures of it yet but once I do, I will post them!

OSO, I got into the Fashion Department!Wheee, my life is over for the next 3 years. Despite the fact that my personal life will cease to exist and I will probably rarely eat a proper meal at home, I am nonetheless excited to be in the program! (hopefully I will lose some weight with the, too busy to eat and think thing).

The last month of school should be alright, I hope. I'm still at the thinking stages of all my final projects so i'm not in panic mode...yet. It will soon come, soon. but till then, I shall blog about my life, sleep for 2/3's of a day and eat ice cream (don't judge, I deserve it after hell month).

 This month:
1. PACKING! (I'm so bad at packing and spring cleaning it's not even funny; I am a hoarder4lyfe)
2. Final projects!! For Core studio, we're making costumes for a parade. Totally random but hey, we're in art school!
3. INTERNSHIP: Mymymy, if I don't get an internship in Shanghai i'm gonna be one sad potato. I'm planning to email some fashion designers, PR houses for graphic design, galleries and this one company called Neocha. Check out their website www.NeoCha.com (contemporary Chinese art just gets meh so happy)
4. Vacation planning!!!

Okay picture sharing time. Just some stuff from the last month or so :)
