Graphic 80's

Why don't people use rainbows and unicorns in graphic design anymore?! Graphic design (in my opinion) seemed so much more vibrant and exciting back in the 80's. I mean, how awesome are unicorns, rainbows and everything random including floating body parts.

Anyways, I went on this freak "80'S GRAPHICS!!!" binge today because I was avoiding my project at work. I am/was so stumped! I'm basically designing a red packet for Chinese New Year based on the next animal of the zodiac calendar, the snake.

I hate snakes. Just looking at pictures creeps me out, which is why I am not enjoying being forced to look at pictures so I can sketch out my design. :-(

Good news though, I have decided to do an art deco pattern snake, very not realistic so no more pictures of snakes for me. Yay!

Hurr ah sum "80'S GRAPHICSS!!!!!" which are totally awesome.

Enjoy the weekend

Flowers and Gardens

Hey all!

Last Sunday my family and I went to the Singapore Garden Festival. Funny story actually, we had initially thought we bought tickets for Singapore's new attraction, Gardens by the Bay. However, the night before we found out it was actually just the Garden Festival. Despite the disappointment, it was still a pretty fun outing! :)

The first floor was filled with amazing flower and landscaping displays (all real flowers btw). The second which was less exciting was just a marketplace with stalls for vendors from all over asia. I have never seen that many Orchids in my life, but I mean, they ARE Singapore's national flower so I didn't expect anything less...

Saved the best for last. Instead of the huge handful of photos I took of flowers (and my family), the last one is by far my favorite. Maybe its the luminescent blue tone but it is definitely the prints of both of their clothes! Excuse me sir, the print on your shirt is AH-MAZING (hopefully you've watched the show Happy Endings and get the vocab, I don't really speak like that :p).

Birthday Dinner

 This is a food post!

So, for my birthday as I said in my previous post, I went to PS Cafe in Singapore with a couple of my friends. In my opinion, it was amazing. Before going, I did read some bad reviews but ignored them because a friend had recently been there and said we had to go.
It was SOO GOOOD.

I got the:
Rose and Berries Sangria
Truffle Fries!!
Lulu's "Leftover" Lasagna
Double Chocolate Blackout Cake

No, I am not 1000 kilos. We shared the fries and the cake :) I recommend everything I ate because, it was all absolutely delicious. If you're ever in Singapore, gogo! They have multiple outlets but the one we went to at Dempsey Hill had such a nice ambiance, it would be a lovely brunch place as well.

We were soso full that we decided to walk around Dempsey Hill after and take pictures. A lot of them were a tad blurry so I was really disappointed after uploading my pictures :(

My dress is from TopShop, bag from Urban Outfitters and necklace+shoes from Marni.
*Sidenote: The Marni shoes are the most comfortable pair of heels I have ever worn in my life.

The First 2012

So, it's been a long whileee mi friends. My last post was 2011 and now, it is already JULY 2012. I can not believe how fast time is moving nowadays. Please stop, time!

Anyways, it was my birthday yesterday, woohoo. Well, not really, because turning 20 was definitely a reality smack in the face. Shits getting real, people. Oh and did I mention I was in Singapore?

Okay, updatesupdates. SINCE my last post, I have

1. decided to leave the fashion program (it was making my life utterly depressing, did I mention I broke down during a crit? yeah.)  and am moving towards illustration and visual communication.

2. moved out of the dorms and found an apartment with my lovely friend Erica. I can't wait to decorate!

3. went to Vietnam and Cambodia with my family for 2 weeks

4. finally came back to Singapore and am now interning for Zen Wu Design (practicing dem illustrator/photoshop skillz)

That seems like an adequate amount of updates for half a year, right?
and back to my birthday! I went to dinner with two of my friends at PS Cafe on Dempsey Hill. It was beyond amazing, I will post pictures tonight.

For now here are some film photos from and Cambodia. The first half was taken in the countryside while we were on an ATV tour and then second half is Angkor Watt. Everything was so so beautiful, it was nice not to be trapped between tall buildings for a change.

Gobble Gobble!

Happy (late) Thanksgiving ya'll!

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday (if you celebrate it) because I did! I went to LA with some of my friends from Shanghai and had a mini-reunion, its was so fun!...and the weather was so nice, unlike gloomy Chicago. Now I'm back and, I JUST WANT TO HERMIT! please.

Back to LA. We didn't do much because we did not have a car but, it was still nice walking around and exploring to Santa Monica. I was so sad we didn't get to go to the Getty or the Museum of Jurassic Technology (which you should all check out here).

Also! I came back with two new electronic babies: a Kindle Fire and a new Canon Powershot. Best black friday purchase ever :)

On the downside..I only took 2 pictures I really approve of, including this one of pancakes. yumyumyum! If you're ever in LA check out Jack and Joe's, it is at/near USC :)

These were taken with my friend's camera because my screen is just too small! It is so small that I can't tell if the picture is clear enough. Maybe it's time I get a new DSLR...hmm

and i'm addicted to Daby Toure.

Sunflowers and Songs

Lets see, it's Friday night and what am I doing? Embroidering on chiffon and trying to create a sense of "nostalgia" with Fleet Foxes playing in the background. Fashion parttyyyyyyyyyyyyy! but its okay, I like embroidery and I like Fleet Foxes so no loss there. Liking the fashion program?...hm gotta think about that for a bit first.

On another note, by-golly Rodarte Spring/Summer 2012. wow. okay, only partial wow.
BEECUZ 1. Parts of it was inspired by Van Gogh so it had to be amazing and 2. sea foam blue/green and yellow are just sososo fabulous together.

As for the rest of the collection...i'm not such a big fan of the metallic purple and green together.

Here are some of my favorite pieces!

check out the whole show ^

and then my new songsession (songobession tehee)
