Sunflowers and Songs

Lets see, it's Friday night and what am I doing? Embroidering on chiffon and trying to create a sense of "nostalgia" with Fleet Foxes playing in the background. Fashion parttyyyyyyyyyyyyy! but its okay, I like embroidery and I like Fleet Foxes so no loss there. Liking the fashion program?...hm gotta think about that for a bit first.

On another note, by-golly Rodarte Spring/Summer 2012. wow. okay, only partial wow.
BEECUZ 1. Parts of it was inspired by Van Gogh so it had to be amazing and 2. sea foam blue/green and yellow are just sososo fabulous together.

As for the rest of the collection...i'm not such a big fan of the metallic purple and green together.

Here are some of my favorite pieces!

check out the whole show ^

and then my new songsession (songobession tehee)

Shanghai Sharing

Just some pictures I took this summer of the most wonderful city in the world, Shanghai. Seriously, I'm in love...and I can't wait to be reunited with it in 3 months!

Enjoy :)
Camera: Minolta XG-1

Randoms around Shanghai:

A new creative space called ShangArt Taopu @ M50 West (pretty far outside the city, but still a place to visit!)

We saw a couple of the mini exhibitions in the warehouse next door which housed mostly large scale works, installations and sculptures.

Moon River, we're after the same rainbow's end

Exciting newsss! The Gene Siskel Film Center is running Breakfast at Tiffany's this month. Just the thought of seeing Ms. Hepburn on the big screen...I hope I can make it to a showing :3 and considering it IS just right downstairs, I do not know why I don't watch the amazing movies they run more often.

I thought I'd share by far, one of my favorite scenes/songs in the world.

Moon Riverrrrr, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style someday...

Oh, and while youtube-ing Moon River, I found an amazing cover by the Honey Trees. They, she, them are absolutely incredible. I am in love with her voice!

Makes my heart flutter every time...

Le Return and...Marit Fujiwara

YES school has started. As much as I was loving summer, there was only so much I could do to keep myself entertained everyday. So, Chicago, round 2!

Me the first two weeks: "I'm so bored already, psh I picked easy classes"

Me last weekend+yesterday: "FUCK, I can't do this."
^Referring to fashion and the three straight days I spent on my 100 over sketches, fabric manipulations and concept research for just Project 1. Thats...basically how I see all my weekends from now on, WHEEE. On a happier note, it's also been great getting back to sewing and sketching and artsy stuffs. I'm doing project 2 on John Lennon and the Vietnam War, I'll post stuff after the crit next Monday :)

Anyways, I also came across Marit Fujiwara's BEAUTIFULbeautifulbeauuutiful textiles today while looking for fabric manipulation techniques. Can I just say that her collection makes my stuffed and bleach dyed fabric look like...dung?

Fujiwara is a recent grad of Chelsea College of Art and Design and her graduate collection "WOUND" is just stunning. Take a look!

Check out more of her work on her Flickr here!
